It was so much fun meeting sweet baby Elias and his momma! He is such a sweetie pie of a little guy. His mom Lori and I talked all baby and meeting Elias made me even more excited to meet our little man this January! Oh— and did I mention Lori kind of has awesome taste? Here house was so ridiculously cute and she introduced me to a what I can already tell will be a new obsession, mini boden. Enjoy a quick sneak peek!

Baby Harry’s parents are former wedding clients of ours and I’ll tell you what— we’ve said it before and I’ll say it again now—- if you want kids have us photograph your wedding and about a year later tada you too will have your own little bundle of joy! This is one of the things I love about what we do, not only do we have the pleasure of documenting the start of a marriage, but often we get to continue to photographing couples as they start their families, which is absolutely awesome. Anyhow without further ado I give Harry, isn’t he sweet?

Angie has such a sweet little family. She and her husband Jerry have an awesome kid named Cobin and a dog named Wednesday (which if you look closely made it into one of these pictures) We had a blast photographing at their home as well as Cobin’s super cool school. I’ve never had a client this excited or nervous to have their pictures taken, but in my opinion there was never a reason to worry considering this family is pretty picture perfect! Nicole of Portraits by Nicole was one of the first local wedding/portrait photographers we met. We instantly liked her, the thing about Nicole is that there isn’t much not to like, everything about her personality is contagious. Earlier this year I put a shout out to our photog friends to see if anyone wanted to do a session trade– my family wanted pictures for my grandma’s 89th birthday and Nicole graciously accepted, she managed to wrangle 3 married couples, 10 month old twins, a 3 year old, and my grandma! Those photos are my grandma’s favorite thing— my mom made her a little book that she takes everywhere with her! So THANK YOU Nicole for helping give those great memories to our family but also to my grandma! All that to say I think we got the easier end of the deal. Nicole is great in front of the camera and all her boys did awesome as well! Doesn’t she just have the cutest little men? This was one of my favorite family shoots to date, not just because we got to do something a little different, but because as a photographer we spend so much time documenting other people’s lives, their big moments, their happiest days and milestones, it was such a pleasure and honor to do that for Nicole and her family— when you ARE a photographer you mostly have photos of other people’s families, other people’s moments, so it makes it extra special when you finally take the time to get some of your own! We love Brad, Danielle and their growing family. I’m sure you’ve seen posts on this uber cute family before. Every time it is a pleasure to see them again and to document new milestones in their lives. The Kellams already have one adorable daughter and they just welcomed baby boy Adler to the fam! He is such a sweet little guy. We love seeing former clients again and at least in my opinion this is what makes our job so awesome when we get to not only document the start of your family (wedding day) but when we get to continue to document your lives as you change and grow. Thanks so much for letting us be there for the milestones Kellams, we look forward to seeing your family grow and change. Best wishes as you continue to grow this little guy and his big sis!

We were so excited when one of our friends asked us to join a small group with our church— for those of you who don’t attend church or your church doesn’t have small groups let me explain, essentially it’s a group that meets usually once a week, the purpose of which is to live life together while seeking out God’s purpose and plan for each of us. Every small group looks a little different, ours is part Bible Study, part delicious dinner together, part laughter, love & prayer, part social group, part challenging talks, part learning and growing together. All this to say I know God brought us together and while being part of the group it’s been an absolute honor to live life alongside our fabulous couples from new marriages, to cancer, to first babies, to couples leaving and starting new adventures, to new ones joining us on our journey, to second babies. Group I love you and am so glad we could all be part of another milestone together, the Hooley’s first baby! So without further ado I give you Charis’s birth! We are so excited that she arrived safely and in perfect health.

I had no idea what it would be like to photograph a birth and the truth is, It was beautiful, and amazing! It was an awesome experience and I hope this photo says it all--- Sarah ecstatic, Cory with tears and Charis letting everyone know she is here! Also huge shoutout to the wonderful staff at Parkview North! You all were so kind, calm and patient, you have awesome jobs and you do them soooo well!

so you may think this was set up after Charis had been here for a few minutes, but this was immediately after she was born, how beautiful is Sarah? I mean really she was an absolute pro!

so the labor and delivery nurse was in a wedding we shot this last year, she was absolutely awesome! She was so kind and calm it's pretty amazing she gets to help usher in little miracles every day!

WOOHOO!!! We are super excited to find out that not only was an image taken by Janelle used in an article for Angie’s List, but that the design of said article won an award. How cool is that? Great friends of ours – and you might have seen their son Luke here before (balanced on a book shelf!) Mike and Mary live in Indy and work for Angie’s List. They asked a while back if they could use an image for an article. Well of course they could. We think it turned out great and are so proud to be a part of their lives and included in this article.
Angie’s List is a fantastic consumer review and watch dog company that is a great place to look for trusted resources, clear cut and unbiased info, and reputable businesses. If you ever have health care questions (and who doesn’t at this point) – Mike can help you out as that’s his area of expertise. Onesie themed shower party for my friend Sarah!

I’ll be honest I love to plan parties. I think it goes back to college when my roommates and I loved to throw parties or actually now that I really think of it, we only planned one real party– but it was a winter gala complete with sparkly silver and blue paper, mini quiches and hundreds of hand cut and glittered snowflakes hanging from the ceiling. Since Shane and I attend dozens of parties throughout the summer I can’t help but notice all the details and wish (just a little) to be in on the action. So when my good friend Sarah found out she was expecting of course the wheels in my head started turning for a shower. I procrastinated a little too long, but I think it all came together in the end. Couldn’t have done it without my fabulous co-host Samantha, my fabulous mom, and of course my two photo buddies Sarah Hendsbee and Anna McClary! Thanks girls! Without further ado what you’ve been waiting for some pics!!! Thank you to all the ladies who came out and the after party guests (cory, arol, julie) who even made some onesies!

Instead of party games we opted for an activity. I love the little hand decorated onesies that people sell on etsy and figured we could make them ourselves. I made a set before for a friend's little boy--- multicolored ties! The girls did an amazing job with their creations! Charis will be well equipped with onesies for months to come!

Samantha my fabulous co-host made the sweetest little onesie cookie party favors that were just as yummy as they were cute!

I thought it appropriate to have a photobooth at the shower being a photographer and all. I dye cut hundreds of little raindrops and stiched them together with the help of Sam, Sarah and Anna. Anna helped hang each strand! We couldn't have pulled it off without their help! I was kind of going for an anthropolgie inspired photobooth-- they always have those amazing window displays. The inspiration for this one was their thousands of paper chains in the window which I loved and thought we could create a similar effect only with a paper shower!

After posting pics of Lex I realized I couldn’t leave out her little sisters…. so here is a recent picture of the twins. It’s amazing how different these two are starting to look and act. Looks wise Eli definitely takes after my side of the family and Anna definitely her dad’s side of the family! Aren’t genetics an interesting thing— It’s mind boggling to see how God has a different design and plan for each of us. I can’t wait to get to know these two munchkins better as they continue to grow!

I can’t believe our niece is three already! I know people always say they grow up so fast, but it’s totally true! She is a hilarious little kid and I just LOVE being her aunt. Some of her favorite things to do right now are cook, eat candy, help with any big person job, go the mall, and swim.

this is the face of What?!?!? when she doesn't understand something or is thinking about what you just said.

My sister and I recently took her with us on a little weekend adventure, Lexi had no idea what a hotel was and as she would talk about where we were going she would say over and over, “there are alligators at the hotel and we’re going to ride them” We had no idea what she was talking about and just kind of went along with it… until we got to the hotel and realized exactly what the alligator was—ahhhh ELEVATOR! Hilarious and a great little story for later.

So when you want Lexi to smile for the camera you first ask her to make a grumpy face which is exactly what this is, her pretend grumpy face which results in the most genuine laugh and smile directly after. Ohhhh this face!

This is the resulting smile…. she’s gonna be a heart breaker!

I love that this is the result of the previous grumpy face, genuine sweet smile!
